We had a fun weekend besides the cold I have.
Friday night we left him in the crate for an hour while we went to guitar center. He was good with the potty and didn't have any accidents.
Lucas definitely is a cuddle monster. Every morning he still likes to snuggle. I wish I could do it right away, but we need to make sure he doesn't have any accidents! My parents came over Saturday to see Lucas. He was running around like crazy and climbing all over them. We put him in the crate while we ate some pizza. If I was feeling better, I would have let him out and just followed him around. He could hear us all talking and wasn't very happy about that. He kept crying and yelping during that time. He ripped apart the pee pad and Daddy had to clean it up. Besides this time, he has not cried like this in the crate and didnt destroy any shirts or towels that we kept in his crate.
Saturday, he also discovered he can hump! He humped my arm twice and I pushed him off of me. I need to do some research and ask some people about this.. how do I tell him not to hump people! Sunday before I fed him dinner, he humped my leg twice. Every time he did, he was very excited and was just recently played with a toy.
The rain on Sunday was not very fun. It seemed to take Lucas a lot longer to go the bathroom. This made sense since the scent he left before wasn't as strong. We wiped him down with a towel every time he came back inside. We didn't want his muddy paws all over the couch. We had to leave him in the crate

First Vet Appointment!
Lucas has his first vet appointment today. He had a fun car ride with Daddy and was very good at the office. He is 5.3 lbs and a little underweight but healthy. He needs to finish up his antibiotics. He has to go back in 2 weeks to get his shots. He got some pills too. Since Daddy is home all day, we are going to be feeding him 3 times a day with the nutri cal to try and put some more weight on him. At least he seems to like the food. He eats right away and we don't have to force him!
The vet said we could leave Lucas out all night until we go to bed. This way we can let him outside one last time before we put him in. This way he will have less time in the crate creating less time to have an accident. The vet wants the dog to have our schedule! Poor little guy, we randomly stay up really late sometimes hahahaha.
After the vets office, Daddy had him outside and he met the neighbors dog better - through their fence of course. Lucas didn't seem scared this time and was barking a more "normal" bark. Daddy updated me telling me that Lucas has been more tired today. He will play for a while but then will be on the couch sleeping. He even got up and went by the front door when he had to go outside? Pretty neat! He has been responding very well to the treat we give him after he goes potty.

Another Fun Filled Day!
So last night was another fun exciting night. I got home and played with Lucas for a little while. I didn't make dinner so I had time right after work to play with him. I fed him the dry dog food in the kitchen with a little bit of the nutri cal. He ate the same amount as he did yesterday and had some water. After he ate, I took him outside but he did not go to the bathroom. He walked around fine for a few minutes and then started to tug towards the door. He either doesn't like it too much outside or he is too cold. I am not sure if we should get him a sweater? He is very little, but we are trying to him used to the collar and harness. We adjusted the harness so it fits him a lot better. We are keeping it on him all the time for now so he gets used to it. He was walking very funny at first, but it isn't as bad now.
As far as we noticed, he didn't have accidents in the house yesterday! I took him out every 30-40 minutes after he ate and he went pee a every time but did not poop until the last time I took him out. Lucas was hopping around, playing, and exploring. It was hilarious - he saw his reflection in the humidor and did this silly growl/bark thing. It reminded me of a pekingese bark! He was snuggling on the couch with us and the blankies. We let him sleep for a little bit and then put him in the crate around 10. He cried for about a minute but we did not hear him after that.
I finally found my camera and we took some cute pictures! Some are action shots and some are of Lucas sleeping. awwww.
This morning I got everything ready again and didn't hear him crying like I did yesterday morning. I guess he didn't hear us moving around, or he is familiar to the sounds now so it didn't bother him. We snuggled for a few minutes and then I gave him the wet food, dry food and nutri cal mix. He ate about the same amount and had some water. I took him outside and he went pee and pooped. He was very excited to see me at first. I would play with him in the office first, but I didn't want him to have an accident inside. I had to get the poo sample for the vets office today. That was fun!
We came back inside and Lucas snuggled me again. Daddy came downstairs and we got everything ready for the vets office! Sadly, I had to go to work instead of going on the trip. I want to get Lucas on a few more car trips before the next time we go to the vets office.

Other Dogs
So we are not supposed to have the dog around other dogs for a while. We will definitely follow this. He needs to be trained first! Plus he is very small and not used to himself yet. His balance and hesitation clearly show this. Apparently he saw the dog barking next door and got scared! Poor little guy. He apparently now wants to go to the door as soon as he is outside. I hope that passes soon! He definitely needs to be outside.
Lucas has his vet appointment tomorrow morning. I wonder how he will be with the other dogs there.

2nd Day Home
So Lucas had a fun filled day yesterday! He didn't eat too much dinner, but that could have been because there was no wet food added to the mix. Since he didn't eat too much, I gave him some of the NutriCal. He seemed to like that a lot. I also mixed it in his wet/dry mix this morning.
We let him out in the living room to sniff around. He had a lot of area to roam in and liked to follow Daddy around! Lucas even went up the long staircase. It was a lot easier climbing up compared to going back down the stairs. He was very hesitant at first and he basically plopped down each stair on his way down. He had two small pee accidents, so we grabbed him and took him outside. The one we caught too late so we couldn't disincline him. He finds corners to go in. We aren't sure if he is trying to mark or if he just has to pee. He still isn't sniffing around or doing anything distinct before he squats.... which is pretty annoying. So we will see!
When I checked the crate this morning, I think he peed a little bit over night. He was in the crate for a 2 more hours than the first night. The shirt was all balled up. I heard him crying a little bit this morning as I was getting ready for work (I knew he heard us walking around). I try to make sure I have everything ready for work before I get the leash on him and take him right outside. It was easier to get him out the door today. He went potty and took the treats both times.
He ate about half of his food but didn't drink too much this morning. Giving him the antibiotic pill was a lot easier! I even did it all by myself which was surprising. Lucas wanted to snuggle again this morning, so we did. We played with the rope toy for a few minutes. Then Daddy came in and Lucas got all excited again. He wanted to snuggle with Daddy, so they did. Time for them to have another fun day!

Treats Update!
So Daddy gave Lucas a treat inside the house so he could get used to it. Now that he knows what the treat tastes like, hopefully he will take it after he goes to the bathroom outside.
My first night Home
So the little fluffer had a nice time on the way home. He didnt bite too much, didn't cry, and didn't try to LEAP out of my arms. He wiggled a little bit, but he was pretty calm.
We are taking the firm "NO" and tap on the nose for discipline. He was very jumpy and cuddly! He would bite our fingers and sweatshirts and shoelaces a little bit.
When we got home, we put on his harness and leash and took him for a walk around the front yard. This was the first time he ran around near us. (Previously, we only held him). He was hopping and jumping around a lot. He actually was moving so much his legs came out of the harness. Although he did not go to the bathroom at this point, we took him inside to inspect the harness. We are keeping him in the office for now with his crate. It is easier to keep an eye on him in the smaller room. We are always keeping an eye on him. About 10 minutes after he jumped all over us and smelled the room, he squatted and went pee a little bit. There was no sign he was going to do it right then- no circles, or extreme sniffing. He just randomly squatted. I quickly grabbed him and grabbed the leash and said "Outside" and took him out. It looked like he may have went pee a little bit.. but it was hard to tell. We walked around the yard for about 10 minutes and when he stopped walking and started to lay down, we went back inside. He is having a hard time adjusting with the hallway where the door is. He doesn't like to walk from the house through the door. It was easier having him go from the outside to the inside. We put on his collar so at least we can take him out with the collar for now until we can get another harness or fix this one.
We played with him for about an hour to tire him out. He was used to going to sleep around 9:30 and it was already 10. We were in the room with him. We had some music on and played WoW.
We set up his crate with a small rope toy, pee pad on the bottom, towel, and two shirts (we wore them recently) He cried for about a minute and then laid there for 10 minutes awake and then went to sleep. We woke him up at 12 and took him outside right away. We said "Outside" as we were taking him out. We told him "Go to the bathroom" over and over. He went pee right away which was good. I tried to give him a treat as I said "Good Boy" but he was excited and was jumping. I had him smell the treat and had it right by his mouth, but he didn' take it. We walked around another 5 minutes and he went poo. I once again told him "good boy" and tried to give him the treat. We came back inside and played with him for another hour or so. I went to make lunch, but apparently he squatted to go pee and Daddy grabbed him and took him Outside and he did pee a little bit more. We put him in the crate for the night around 2am. We kept debating whether or not we wanted to move the crate.. or sleep down in the room with him.. but we decided we would leave him for the night. We kept one of the lights on and had music on all night.
I got up early, prepared his food (1 cup dry, 1 tablespoon wet) and got some water for him. I went in, grabbed his leash, opened his crate and got him "Outside" ASAP. He hesitated a little bit when we walked to the door again. Once we got outside, I said Go to the bathroom and he went pee around the same spot he went the night before. We walked around another 5 minutes and he went poo, but it was only a little bit. We walked around another 5 minutes and he laid down again, so we went inside. He didnt hesistate coming back inside and we went into the office again. I took off his leash and gave him the food and the water on the ground. He went right to the food and ate about 1/3 of the food. He then got a drink of water and then ran around the room for a minute. he came back and sniffed the food, and then drank a little bit of water. He ran around again. and then came up to me to snuggle. I was sitting on the floor and he was trying to jump on my arm to get to my face. I picked him up and put him on my chest and he was snuggling on my face/hair/chest. He was there for 5 minutes and then jumped off and ran around again. He then tried to climb on my chest again so I picked him up again. Daddy came in and helped me give him the antibiotic pill he needed. I left for work but I heard he went outside twice and went potty no times.
No accidents have been reported yet today. I checked the crate this morning, and there was no pee or poo smell, and there was nothing wet in the crate. Awesome!
We are trying to get him used to us and the house so he has only been in the office and to the door so far. There are a lot more places he could be when gets into another room. We have not had him in direct contact with anyone else in the house yet since we will be the primary caretakers.
